I’d ridden a sled through the back of Banff across a frozen lake and there on the other side to greet me was a “Wiley” Coyote. In full winter coat and squinting against the crisp wind, with backdrop of the snow covered mountains are almost a definition of his range and homeland. These animals are so at home in this terrain and help clear any carione and constrain the numbers of rodents and small mammals that graze on the forest in winter.
