Likely one of Australia’s most endearing animals, the Koala. Like all marsupials they carry their young in a pouch for the first few months of life but this little Joey is far too big for that now. He had been out exploring in the mid morning warmth of an open Eucalypt forest on tropical Magnetic Island in far north Queensland, but had clearly exhausted himself and returned back to the security of a sleepy Mum whose day is mostly spent digesting the gum leaves of the previous night’s feeding. Chilled and proud would be how I’d describe this moment.
